I call a “Cold War”
With the actions Russia has taken in the last week over Georgia (a pro-western government run former member of the Soviet Union) cracking down militarily against South Ossetia (a pro-Russian enclave inside Georgia). I feel Putin is trying to reinvent the former Soviet Union and by this time next year we have ourselves a good old fashion cold war. Poland is letting the USA put a missal base on Polish territory and this is the first of what will be a rearming of the former Soviet Block.
I’m all for it. I miss the Russians being our enemies. They were transparent and easy to find and poke fun at. This way we can get away from this whole terrorist thing. Terrorists are terrible enemies… hard to pinpoint, sort of scary. Mark my word Al-Qaeda will look like a wall flower this time next year… when we get invited again to the Sadie Hawkins dance with the one eyebrowed wonder Putin’s Russia.
